The Lovers

Hello fellow Tea & Tarot lovers… It has been a minute, but our journey finally continues.

The next step of The Fools story leads him to The Lovers. While this card is most commonly associate with love and relationship meanings, it also can represent the dualities within each of us. The masculine and feminine energy that flows within every human soul. One belief is that The Fool represents the man in the card. The Emperor and Empress taught him about union and partnership, and The Hierophant taught him about tradition, structure, commitment and marriage and now the woman in the card shows him what love really means.

As he stands mesmerized by this woman, he must decide whether he takes the risk to fall in love or stays safe and guards his heart. When The Lovers card finds you, often it is a sign you have reached a crossroads, either in love or life.

Will you take the risk or guard your heart?

Light

“My heart is open to deeply meaningful relationships, and I expand into this union with loving trust.”

(harmony, soulmates, love, trust, friendship, allowing yourself to fall in love or take risks)

When pulled upright, The Lovers tells us there is a decision to be made that will greatly impact your future. Generally, an upright pull of this card favors a positive outcome for you.

HOME- If you are not living in your dream home yet, it’s time to make the plunge or work towards it. You should be in love with where you live.

RELATIONSHIP- A love decision to be made… Look at your patterns in previous relationships and see what your current partner can offer that is different from all the things that haven’t worked before. If you pull this card while single, it is a sign to love and cherish yourself first to manifest the right traits in a future lover.

CAREER- One option might seem easier, but you should look closely. Look beyond money and the present. You want to make the best choice for your future.

This card might tell you to follow your heart instead of your brain.

Shadow

“Does this love bring out the best or worse of you?”

(dishonesty, betrayal, manipulation, loss of self, codependency)

If you pull the card in reverse, or upside, the meaning shifts to represent the shadow side. We all have a light and shadow side and it’s normal to experience both in life. Our goal is to learn to notice what our shadows our telling us.

The Lovers upside down indicates something off balance. This faults of your situation, love or otherwise, has brought out the shadows within yourself. This card tells us that there is a situation in crisis that must be resolved. Proceed with caution… you must think long term in order to make the right decision. Your heart already knows what to do, even if you know it will cause you pain in the moment.

Astrology

The Lovers sign is Gemini. This represents the twins or the dualities within us…

masculine and feminine || light and shadow

When we love all aspects of ourselves it raises our vibrational frequency and our inner connection to the universe.

Element

The Lovers represent the element of air. Air represents emotional clarity, new beginnings, and fresh ideas. All things that you think of when making a life altering decision.

Chakra

The Loves is connected to the heart chakra for love and healing. When balanced, it tells us that the relationships in your life are balanced, you have greater self-love and empathy, and an overall healthy emotional wellbeing.

When out of alignment you might feel loneliness, jealousy, difficulty trusting, tightness of chest and more. The Lovers in reverse indicates an unbalance heart chakra and reminds you that you must balance it in order to move forward peacefully.

Symbolism

The Lovers heavily relate to Adam and Eve…

They stand in the beautiful Garden of Eden. Archangel Raphael of love and healing watches over them as a symbol of love but also a warning of danger ahead.

The card represents love but these two are not in love yet. The storm clouds between them are a sign they will need to overcome obstacles ahead.

Behind Adam stands the Tree of Life which stands for the male principles. It has 12 fruits to represent the 12 signs of the zodiac.

Behind Eve sits the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil which represents female principles and the fruit represents sexual experience. You see the snake wrapped around that tree to represent risk and wisdom. In Christianity it represents the fall of man.

The Lovers reminds us that big decisions require bravery and that following our heart is not always easy.

Ignoring the message of your heart will always leave you a Fool in the end.

Thanks for learning Tarot with me.

XOXO,
